Can I complete the evaluation myself? How do I find an evaluator? What needs to be included? Can I fail the evaluation? This can be a nerve-wracking question for the Home Educator. 

My hope is to have a local home educator portfolio evaluator complete this section very soon. In the meantime, please find a lot of useful information from the Florida Parent Educators Association (FPEA) website HERE and linked below. This site offers valuable information such as the legal requirements of an evaluation, questions to ask a potential evaluator, how to submit the evaluation, and a template for submitting.

The home-education law provides five evaluation options (copied from FEPA):

• An individual evaluation by a Florida-certified teacher of your choice.
• Any nationally normed student achievement test administered by a certified teacher of your choice.
• A state student assessment test.
• A psychological evaluation.
• Any other method mutually agreed upon by the parent and the superintendent.
