The Jacksonville Public Library offers free homeschool classes to those with a library card. You do have to register in advance for most. All JPL classes can be found on the monthly calendar. The ones listed below are during SCHOOL HOURS. Additional classes after hours are located on the website.

STEAM & Stories

Get ready to make! STEAM & Stories (ages 5-12) is a live program inspired by a book! Each week we read an exciting book and then participate in a hands-on activity inspired by the book.

Homeschool Science (ages 5-12)

If your child is into science, technology, engineering and math (or would they like to be), this is the time for them to shine. Read or talk through a STEM book with us and then we’ll do a STEM-based activity together. 

This program features a book and science activities that encourage deep thinking, inquiry, and fun. Each week we will use a variety of materials to explore a scientific concept. 

Homeschool Street Art Lab (ages 10-14)

This program is part of a 9-week long series! Street Art Lab is a program designed for participants interested in urban and public art, or those who just want to try new things! Join us as we explore various styles of street art that you can incorporate into your own unique creations. Special inspiration will be taken from our own city streets here in Jacksonville as we dive deeper into the artistic process of collaborative mural design, which we’ll debut at the end of the series!

Forensics Lab (ages 10-14)

This program is part of a 9-week long series! Forensics Lab (ages 10-14) is a program designed for participants who are curious about the science used to investigate crimes, or those who just want to learn something new! Join us as we slip into a fictional crime scene to learn how to use forensics tools and techniques. By the end of the series, you’ll have collected, analyzed and interpreted all the evidence needed to solve the crime!

Drop-In Options:

• Drop-In: Read with Dug the Therapy Dog (ages 6-12). Dug is a certified therapy dog who loves children and books!
• Drop-In: Printmaking: Sun Printing (Tween to Adult). Join us each month as we use different techniques to create art prints!
• Drop-In: Board Games (ages 12-18). Test your strategic skills and meet other board game fans at our board game sessions. For Teens ages 12-18.
• Drop-In: Chess (Tween to Adult). Brush up on your chess skills or learn from scratch. This Drop-in welcomes any level of mastery. Come enjoy an age-old game with your fellow customers.
• Drop-In: Dungeons and Dragons (Teen). Join us in the Southeast Regional Teen Room to learn and play Dungeons & Dragons. Beginners and experts are welcome. Dice and character sheets provided! You are welcome to bring your own.

At Creative Me Art Studio, we provide educationally based art lessons during the day for you and your homeschooled friends to come join the fun!

We’ve designed a curriculum that can address the specific needs of your children. We believe learning Art in a group setting can teach children to see the world through an artist’s eye, while using their imagination to create their very own works of art.  Students will be introduced to many different artists, critique artwork, and build a large vocabulary. Students will learn the styles of many artists, and will be given an opportunity to make their own choices when creating pieces of artwork. Students will also collaborate with other student artists in group art projects.

Our H.S.P. classes start off with a slide show presentation all about a specific artist so the children can gain some background knowledge on the inspiration behind the art project. Then we will begin an art project that involves so many different forms of media, such as watercolor paint, oil pastels, chalk, crayons, markers, colored pencils, sculpture clay, etc. Then the teacher will reiterate what we learned and how it relates to our finished piece of artwork. Students will take their project home on the same day it is made. Cost is $15 per a child.

Art Darling is a process-based traveling art studio in Jacksonville, FL.  Process art focuses on the creative experience as opposed to the final product.  It provides students with an environment to explore and create without being bound by the "rules" of a traditional art lesson.  If you have a child that loves art or a child that you’d love to expose to more sensory and art experiences, come join us!  Art Darling hosts art classes and toddler play groups in shared spaces all over Jacksonville.  Check in here or follow us on Facebook and Instagram @artdarlingjax to find out when we’ll be in your slice of the city.

This group is for art loving teen homeschoolers in the Jacksonville area to connect, collaborate, and create together over the shared interest of growing as artists. We have regularly scheduled drawing classes and monthly meet-ups. If you are interested join our private FB page linked below.

Our homeschool classes are offered as needed; we accept all ages (preschool-high school) and can cater our classes towards the different age ranges. Right now we have a 17 week homeschool art series (ages 5-12) that includes instruction of drawing, watercolor, clay handbuilding, and creative expression. We also have different variations of this for 12 and 8 week classes. 

We would love to offer a teen homeschool art class in the future and teach art history or something more advanced. We are not religious based, and we do not have any requirements to join a class. Let us know if you need any more information!

Chapman Education Services offers a drop off art enrichment program for kids K-12. Each class offers an art project and no lesson will repeat, allowing for kids to take art semester after semester. We are a Step Up for Student Provider.
